He makes me laugh!

I designed a project over the weekend and decided to make a tutorial of it. I have been looking for my camera for a few days to take some pictures of projects but couldn't find it so I asked my 5yo son if he had seen it. He said he hadn't and then five minutes later he gave it to me and said "I think someone put it in my room whilst I was asleep, perhaps a ghost or something".

I said I thought it was most likely him and he absolutely denied it and went off to watch a DVD. So I had a look at the pictures that had been taken on it and guess what?.......

This is what I found, a very close up, unflattering shot of the culprit! When presented with the evidence he just fell on the floor laughing and said "it was me mummy, it was me!" No way, I'd never have guessed!!!

He drives me insane at times but he really does make me laugh!

Sneak Peak

I had a quiet afternoon today and wanted to keep myself busy so I thought I would have a go with some of the new stamp sets I recently obtained. Our current Spring Mini runs out at the end of this month so if there are any stamp sets, papers etc you would like from there then you need to get your orders to me ASAP! Check out the link on the right hand side to view the online catalogue.

On the 1st of December out new Summer Mini is out.....wow!!! So much to choose from I had to really hold myself back from ordering everything!

Today I concentrated on one set 'For Everything', it reminds me of the set Priceless from out main catalogue but a little more whimsical. When I look at it I think of bright colours and summer so used that idea in some of the cards I made today.

So here they are................ (*new in the Summer Mini Catalogue)

The above two are what are called Single Layered Cards, that is, the only card is the base and there is no more layers. They are very clean, simple and fresh. For the one immediately above I used scrap paper and the Dotto to mask off a rectangle and sponges to ink lightly round the edges to give the appearance of another layer.

Gift Bag

I have seen this little gift bag around quite a bit so really it was only a matter of time before I had a go making it. It takes one sheet of 12 x 12 DSP and a few folds so very simple indeed. I found it wasn't really that strong so I lined it with coordinating card stock to give it a little more substance.

I found some little, very strong, magnets and I encased these withing the round tab punch so the bag snaps shut very firmly, I kind of enjoy hearing the little click as it closes, very satisfying...lol!

Stamps: None
Card: Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Inks:
None
Accessories : Round Tab Punch, Sweet Always DSP, jumbo eyelets, Choc Chip grosgrain, Wide Satin ribbon (retired)

Note Card Gift Set + Gift Tags

I saw a box like this on the internet but it was made using dimensions for the US envelope size and did not fit the Aus envelopes so I redesigned the template, strengthened the construction and came up with this. It is very simple to make, expecially as each of the notecards is basically the same design. I designed an acetate lid to go on top of it just to finish it all off so it will make a perfect gift for someone. I will be coming up with a tutorial for this very shortly!

Card Recipe..

Stamps: A Rose is a Rose
Card: Riding Hood Red, , Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP
Inks:
Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red
Accessories : Scallop, 1 3/8", 1 1/4" circle punch. Double Striped Grosgrain

Using a similar idea I made this little gift box, I would have loved to have filled it with chocolates but as I had none I made some very quick and simple gift cards! I made this a couple of months back which was quite bizarre as a couple of week ago I attended a Stampin' Up! field trianing even here in Tasmania and they demonstrated something very similar although, to be big headed my box is better, it is much stronger, sturdier and easier to make.....lol that does sound boastful!! Again, watch this space for a tutorial.

Rustic Rooster

Again this was a card I made for the Techniques class, it is called 'Faux Torn Paper'. It is a very simple technique, you simply get a piece of scratch paper and tear it. Temproarily adhere the paper to your card base with something like the Dotto and using a sponge cover the area that is not covered, if you make it slightly darker at the edge it is more effective. I also stamped the large background stamp 'En Francais' over it whilst the paper was still adhered. I then removed the paper and stamped the other side with a flourish from the Rustic Rooster set. You can use the other side of the torn paper as a reverse mask when you do this.

I also made five card fronts for a card swap with some UK demonstrators, I am still awaiting theirs!!

Card: Naturals Ivory, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red
Inks:

Spring ATC

I belong to a papercrafts group here in Hobart, we meet once a month and when i get a chance I try and get involved in teh swaps. This one is from a couple of months back. The swap was an ATC and the title was 'Spring'. I saw a card made like this on SCS and thought it was just lovely so adapted it for an ATC, I would give credit to the orignal designer but it was so long ago I ahve totally forgotten!

Ahoy Matey

My youngest's son's best friend had a Pirate Birthday party about one of the wooden pirate ships we have here on the River Derwent,. My son refused to go as a pirate and went as Superman but other than he got in the spirit of the even and we made this pirate card for his freind.

This set was retired from SU! a couple of catalogues back, it is a shame as it is such a lovely set, especially for boys of this age.

Brayered Plaid

Finally I have my computer and I have adobe and both are working so I have been able to resize my pictures and start posting again!

These cards I made in preparation for one of my techniques classes. I was playing with a technique called 'Brayered Plaid' I quite enjoy this technique but I have to say my ladies weren't so keen. I think it was because they wanted perfection. for all the lines to be equal thickness and equal distances apart but sadly it does not work like that!

I tried to explain that it doesn't matter if it is not perfect as no one else will notice, hopefully they will believe me and give this a go in different colours!

So here are my attempts, as you can see I was determined to stick to a perticular colour scheme!
